Undoubtedly qualities that led the French harpist to becoming a prizewinner of ARD International Music Competition en Germany.
Born in 2002 in New York to a family with no musical background, she discovers nevertheless the music very young. She can read notes at the same time she's learning the alphabet, starts piano lessons at 6 years old and the harp at 7 at the Scuola Musicale di Milano with Elena Gorna, continues her education in Madrid at the Conservatorio Arturo Soria with Beatriz Millán and Zoraida Avila and at the CRR in Paris with Ghislaine Petit Volta. In 2020 she joins the class of Isabelle Moretti and Geneviève Létang at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where she obtains her Bachelor degree with the highest distinctions in 2023.
Alexandra Bidi stands out as the international prizewinner being awarded First Prizes at several competitions in Spain (Isolda, 2014), France (Léopold Bellan, Martine Géliot, 2019), Slovenia (Drustvo harfistov Slovenije, 2023), and most recently, at the age of 21, obtains a second prize as well as special prize for the best interpretation of a commissioned composition (by Édith Canat de Chizy) at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition (Germany, 2023).
Following her successful concerto debut with the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2023, she has been invited to perform with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim, Opera National de Lorraine Orchestra and the Dutch orchestra Ciconia Consort.
European Broadcasting Union (EBU) chose her as part of the Euroradio Top Young Performers program of promoting emerging musical talents, meticulously selected by an EBU radio organizations experts' group. Her live recordings are regularly broadcast by European radio stations in France, Portugal, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, Latvia, Croatia, The Netherlands.
With her attentive ear, great sense of adaptability and immense joy of music sharing, she is very sought after chamber musician with partners of all generations.
Her collaborations with orchestras such as Les Siècles, l'Orchestre de chambre de Paris, l'Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse, Aspen Festival Orchestra, l'Orchestre français des jeunes, have led her to perform in renowned concert halls in France and abroad, under direction of conductors such as Marin Alsop, Kirill Karabits, Michael Schonwandt and François-Xavier Roth.
Appreciating big international stages as much as concerts in small halls or churches, Alexandra Bidi is particularly fond of conviviality and sharing music impressions with her audience after solo concerts or with her chamber music partners.
She is currently studying in the harp Master's program at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, while pursuing at the same time a degree in applied mathematics at Paris-Dauphine University.
In 2021, following her First Prize at the Martine Géliot competition, she recorded the CD "Bach to Paris", in which she brings together pieces by French and German composers, that she particularly likes.
